Be the Best Version of YOU

Be the Best Version of You!

We’ve just come through one of the most rewarding & bountiful periods of time for tech job seekers!

For the last two-three months though, things have changed…

Quora, Facebook forums are getting updates from people who’ve been told the jobs they accepted have been closed – sometimes on their first day, or even first week of work!

Here’s a recent email I got from a client – it really gives this new situation more weight when you hear about it personally:

I am super delighted to let you know that I heard back from my recruiter yesterday that I have cleared the TPM screening round and <Meta> are progressing me to the full loop! They are currently on a hiring freeze though so my recruiter told me that she will call me as soon as it’s lifted , she also expects it to not go beyond December. I guess it’s good in a way that it gives me more time to prepare now . I would like to schedule a call with you on how to go about starting the preparation for that full loop in anticipation of it being scheduled.
My client had experienced difficulty in the recent past getting through the first technical round – and so we worked on building out her stories and coaching her to be “The Best Version” of herself. And as you see, she did clear that first hurdle and the resulting positivity of noting the change and experiencing the results means she will be continuing to work on being the best version of herself.
Be the Best Version of YOU
Even in the midst of hiring freezes and slowdowns – companies will not let quality candidates get away! I myself experienced this as well, as interviews I started in May 2022 were successful all the way through the full loop round, and I was told that they were waiting on a suitable role of suitable seniority to open up prior to sending an offer letter. I eventually ended the conversation myself just last month in September – as much as I would have loved to have reported here of a new job with Meta, I reviewed my situation and decided that I am happy with my own promotion and new salary, and don’t want to change anything right now. But the point is, companies will hang onto quality candidates for as long as it takes to bring them onboard.
Companies will hang onto quality candidates for as long as it takes to land them in the roles that the candidate covets.
But the quality bar has gone up significantly. Fewer jobs mean a lot more competition in the market…

You ask “How do I compete now against so many others for the jobs that are available?”
